A focused hour reveals most of what a full audit finds. Follow this sequence and you will leave with three decisions, not a report.

A full marketing audit takes weeks. A useful one takes an hour, provided you look in the right order and write down decisions instead of observations.

Set a timer and open your analytics, your CRM, and your website.

Minutes 0 to 10: Where does business actually come from?

Pull closed deals from the last 12 months and tag each with its true first touch: referral, search, social, event, outbound. Most businesses discover one channel carrying the majority of revenue while budget spreads evenly across five.

Minutes 10 to 20: Does the site say what the buyer needs?

Read your homepage as a first-time visitor. Within five seconds, is it clear what you do, who for, and what to do next? Then check page load on mobile and confirm the primary action appears without scrolling.

Minutes 20 to 30: What happens after someone raises a hand?

Submit your own form. Time the reply. Note whether it names a next step. Response speed and clarity move more revenue than any channel adjustment.

Minutes 30 to 40: What is search already giving you?

Open Search Console. Sort queries by impressions with low click-through. Those are pages one title rewrite away from more traffic. Note the top three.

Minutes 40 to 50: What is running on autopilot?

List every active spend line, tool, and retainer. Mark each as producing evidence or not. Anything unmeasured for a quarter goes on a decision list.

Minutes 50 to 60: Choose three decisions

Not thirty findings. Three decisions with owners and dates. For example:

  1. 1Rewrite homepage hero around the referral language customers already use
  2. 2Cut the unmeasured ad line, move budget to the highest-converting channel
  3. 3Add an instant form acknowledgment with a booking link

Audits create value at the decision, never at the observation. If your hour ends without three of them, run the last ten minutes again.

Strategy

Put the thinking to work on your business.

An audit turns general advice into three decisions specific to your channels, your messaging, and your pipeline.
